Manchester United suffered yet another injury blow last night as David Moyes confirmed that Wayne Rooney missed the match against Stoke City due to a groin injury.
With a host of United players injured including Michael Carrick and Robin van Persie, the last thing we need in the middle of a busy festive period is for Rooney to be sidelined too.
However, despite the usually serious nature of groin injuries, Moyes has confirmed that there is every chance Rooney would be back in action soon.
“He has got a chance,” Moyes said when questioned on whether Rooney would be fit in time to face West Ham at the weekend.
United would well and truly be plunged into an attacking crisis if Rooney was to become injured all of a sudden as Robin van Persie is already sidelined while Javier Hernandez has only just recovered from injury, meaning that Danny Welbeck would likely be Moyes’ first choice up front.
Without Rooney, Van Persie and Carrick, United would be an altogether tamer animal and hopefully Rooney’s withdrawal was nothing more than a precaution.
