Dutch correspondent Marcel van der Kraan has told talkSPORT that Wesley Sneijder wants to move to Manchester United this year.
The 29-year-old has been linked with a move to United at every available transfer window for the past few years and 2013 is no different.
He felt obliged to respond to rumours after Galatsaray made it through to the knock-out stage of the UEFA Champions League where he stated he was happy in Turkey but didn’t rule out a move but Van der Kraan is confident that Sneijder wants to make the move to Old Trafford.
Van Der Kraan’s claims will keep the fire burning that maybe one day Sneijder will become a United player but this isn’t the first time that he has made these sorts of claims about Sneijder with talkSPORT:
December 2011 – ‘Sneijder would love to be a Manchester United player’
Of course, Sneijder didn’t become a United player on 1 September. However, there could be some credibility in these statements somewhere as Sneijder revealed earlier this year that he wanted to join United after Sir Alex Ferguson made a €20 million bid for him but Inter Milan blocked any potential move.
The Sun has further fuelled the fire by claiming that Sneijder would be willing to take a pay cut to move to United this year.
Until the time where/if United bring in some midfield reinforcement, Sneijder will continually be linked with a move to Old Trafford and so long as he is playing football at the top level, there will always be a hypothetical chance that he can be the reinforcement.
