Stefan Velkov is close to joining Manchester United in a €2 million deal after a successful trial at Carrington in December.
The 17-year-old is considered one of Europe’s best defensive prospects and is already a regular for Slavia Sofia in Bulgaria despite being so young, which is a testament to how good he is for his age.
Vidic and Ferdinand were snapped with the 6″3 starlet during his trial as he fully soaked up being a United player for the week and he has been labelled the new Vidic due to his physical and no nonsense style of play.
Reports suggested that the deal had stalled because a deal could not be reached on a contract but United are still in pole position to land him after his trial at the club.
Right now, Charni Ekangamene is playing as a makeshift centre back for United’s Under-21s and if Velkov is ready to play first team football in Bulgaria, he’d be ready to skip the Under-18s at United altogether.
