Manchester United arrange meeting with super agent Jorge Mendes over double transfer

Manchester United have arranged a meeting with super agent Jorge Mendes this week in order to discuss the potential transfers of Fabio Coentrao and Eliaquim Mangala, according to Portuguese journalist Goncalo Lopes.

Mendes has a lot of links with United as he is the agent of Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani, Anderson and Bebe, so he is used to striking deals at Old Trafford and that is a good thing for David Moyes.

We have covered the latest update to Coentrao’s current situation in Madrid and as for Mangala, he is name that United fans should be familiar with. Links with Mangala date back as far as March last year where he admitted it was the ‘best feeling’ to be linked with a move to United. He could potentially be a replacem

According to Lopes, any deal that might be agreed for Mangala would be for a summer move rather than January but it is clear that David Moyes would want to bring in left-back Coentrao as soon as possible. It is unlikely Mangala would want to move in January anyway given that Porto are flying high in the Portuguese league.

Having Mendes as their agent makes it better from a United perspective given our historical dealings with him and if Lopes is right, David Moyes is doing his utmost in this window to make sure that United bring players in despite his claims to the contrary.
