Cruzeiro’s Dede has been linked with a move to Manchester United this week but his agent Ubiraci Cardoso has moved quickly to deny any links with a move to Old Trafford.
The 25-year-old centre back won the Brazilian league with Cruzeiro in his first year and after a title winning season, he has drawn interest from a lot of clubs from around Europe including United according to reports.
However, according to Cardoso, Dede will stay at Benfica for the foreseeable future no matter what happens at the Copa Libertadores.
“I can’t say anything about these Manchester United links, because I’m unaware of it,” Dede’s agent Cardoso told Lancenet.
Usually an agent does not respond within 24 hours to a rumour and this indicates that Cardoso feels his client is either very dedicated at his job and/or that Dede wants to quash any rumours before they really gather pace, which is obviously good from the perspective of the club.
From United’s perspective, there is every chance that Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand could leave in the summer so Dede’s arrival could be great for the squad.
