David Moyes has rubbished speculation that Robin van Persie will be out for another six weeks and labelled it as wrong information.
Van Persie watched from the stands as United swept aside Swansea today because he hadn’t yet fully recovered from a thigh injury he sustained against Shakhtar Donetsk a month ago.
Rumours spread on Friday that instead of being close to match fitness, he was going to be out for a lot longer but Moyes has insisted that is not the case at all.
Speaking after the 2-0 victory today, he said: “I don’t know where that comes from. That’s wrong information as far as I’m concerned.”
It would seem a little ridiculous for Van Persie to come back from a specialist two week training camp in Holland if he was still six weeks away from match fitness, so the rumours were always a little far fetched but it is good to hear it from Moyes. Hopefully he isn’t bluffing.
Right now, there is no return date for Van Persie but United fans are clinging on to the hope that he may be ready in time for our clash against Chelsea next weekend.
He was instrumental in United’s 3-2 victory at Stamford Bridge last season and we are going to need our best players fit if we are to have any chance of repeating the feat this year.
