BREAKING: Manchester United agree Anderson deal with Fiorentina as clearout begins

by Sam Peoples

Manchester United have loaned Anderson to Serie A side Fiorentina with the option to buy for €6.5 million, according to both the Manchester Evening News Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano

A fee has been agreed and Anderson will undergo a medical this week in Italy.

The 25-year-old spent six tumultuous yeas at Old Trafford but failed to fully live up to the expectation that came with his label of being the new Ronaldinho through a combination of injury woes and a questionable work ethic.

It’s hard to believe that Anderson is still only 25 and he now has an opportunity to hit the reset button on his football career in Italy where, if he is allowed to play in his natural attacking midfield role, he may well flourish.

He will be fondly remembered for scoring in the 2008 UEFA Champions League final penalty shoot-out but there is one thing Anderson did that won’t ever be replaced at United – his unnerving free-kick stare.

Good luck to Anderson at Fiorentina but now was the right time for him to leave as he had a lot of opportunities to kick start his United career – it just never worked out.

Anderson’s departure is our first piece of activity in this January transfer window and hopefully it won’t be the last as United could really do with strengthening the squad with some new faces.

Keep marching on, Anderson.
