Bayern Munich’s Dante confirms Manchester United want to sign him in January

by Sam Peoples

Fox Sports News in Brazil has broken the story that Bayern Munich’s Dante has been signed by Manchester United. That is not currently the case.

However, the 30-year-old centre-back has confirmed that United are interested in signing him, insisted he appreciated the interest from United and that any deal would be concluded by the end of January.

“I’m not yet [a Manchester United player],” he told Fox Sports News.

“I stay in Munich but appreciate United’s interest. We will have a decision by the end of the month.”

Dante’s name has come out of the blue but given that he has confirmed United’s interest in him, it is genuine.

In the Bundesliga this year, Dante has averaged 9.3 accurate long balls per game in Bundesliga (7th highest) and has the best pass accuracy (91.4%) of any defender in the league, fourth best from all players.

Two immediate points spring to mind with Dante – why would he want to leave the current best team in the world and why would United want to sign a 30-year-old defender? Hardly a long term signing.

Either way, United’s interest in Dante is genuine and it looks like Moyes is making some moves in the January transfer window.
