Manchester United send young midfielder out on loan

Manchester United have confirmed that Jack Barmby has joined League Two side Hartlepool United on a one month loan.

The 19-year-old midfielde is the son of former England international Nick Barmby and can operate on either wing or even up front. He was our top scorer in United’s FA Youth Cup run in 2011/12.

Barmby has found his chances at Under-21s level limited this season as he has made only three substitute appearances this season. He also missed out on the opportunity to play in UEFA’s Under-19 Youth League by weeks as he was born in mid-November instead of the cut off point of January.

He has been given squad No. 12 and will go straight into Hartlepool’s squad for their match against York City on Saturday.

Nick Powell has shown how positive a loan spell can be for any United youngster and hopefully Barmby can have a successful spell at Hartlepool.
