Anderson: I’m not gay

by Sam Peoples

Anderson has started to settle down in Fiorentina on loan from Manchester United after competing his move this week.

However, for reasons unbeknown, Anderson was asked whether he was gay in his first official press conference as a Fiorentina player.

As far as strange questions go, Anderson being asked whether or not he is gay in his first press conference at a new club is right up there.

“It’s the first time I hear this story,” Anderson said according to The Sun.

“I respect gay people and have absolutely nothing against them but I like women. I have four children.”

It is even more strange when you consider that Anderson has four children and he was as surprised as anyone to be asked the question.

Anderson went on to talk about his preferred position and insisted that because Vincenzo Montella had shown faith in him, he is happy to play anywhere for the team – even in goal.

He added: “Fiorentina have a great project that has convinced me. They are fighting for the title and a Champions League spot. I am here to do well.

“Players like Gabriel Batistuta and Edmundo have played here.

“I want to be at the centre of the project and win like I did in Manchester.

“I am happy to be at Fiorentina, who are a club that want to be a top team in Europe.

“I am here to convince the club and stay for a long time.

“My preferred position? I would even play in goal if they ask me, I will be at Montella’s disposition.

“I love to be in midfield but it is not important where.

“I like Montella, he has shown faith in me straight away, and I want to repay him on the pitch.”

If Anderson can hold his fitness and enjoy his football, there is every chance he can make a name for himself out in Italy, even if he has to deal with some strange questions from the press.
