Crerand: I spoke to Rooney’s agent and he isn’t going anywhere

Paddy Crerand has insisted he is ‘99%’ confident that Wayne Rooney will sign a new long term contract with Manchester United this season after speaking to his agent Paul Stretford earlier this week.

Rooney has been at the centre of another media frenzy and this time his contract situation has seen him linked with a moves away from Old Trafford. However, unless Crerand is simply blowing hot air (which is entirely feasible), then Rooney will be staying with United.

Speaking to MUTVCrerand said: “Having spoke to Paul Stretford last night, I got the distinct impression Rooney isn’t going anywhere. 99% sure he’ll stay.”

It would certainly cause a division among United fans as some support him but others believe now is the right time to cash in on him. Despite any difference in opinion, you can’t argue with the fact that Rooney has returned to his unplayable best this season under Moyes.

Sky Sports journalist Pete O’Rourke went one step further by claiming that Rooney had already signed contract and while that not proven to be the case right now, Rooney is expecting to make a decision sooner rather than later on where his future lies.
