David Moyes was always known as a hands on manager before he arrived at Manchester United and so it has proved as he took another trip to Europe yesterday to scout Olympiacos.
United face Olympiacos in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 this month and Moyes clearly wants to be as prepared as possible for the game in Greece.
Our task of beating Olympiacos in the knockout rounds has been made easier by Rene Meulensteen’s Fulham after they bought their top goalscorer Kostas Mitroglou.
Moyes really has clocked up some miles this year travelling to watch teams in action. In January, he watched Juventus and Paris St Germain in action and on the same day that United unveiled the signing of Juan Mata, he watched Cardiff City take on Bolton Wanderers.
You certainly can’t fault Moyes in terms of how much time he puts in to prepare for games but now he just needs to get United’s performances on the pitch to turn that extra work into results.
