Mata and Ferguson’s reaction sums up the current feeling at Manchester United

There was a palpable sense of relief inside Old Trafford when Michael Carrick‘s deflected effort put Manchester United 2-1 up against Fulham yesterday but it was a short-lived feeling of optimism.

Darren Bent scored an equaliser for Fulham deep into Fergie time which saw Old Trafford stunned into silence as United once again dropped points.

Both Sir Alex Ferguson’s and Juan Mata‘s reaction to the full-time whistle says it all – disbelief.

If anyone is scoring a dramatic last-minute goal at Old Trafford, it should be United. That has been our hallmark yet this season we have dropped points against the likes of Southampton, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and now Fulham through late goals.

What is happening to our club? If we can’t get a victory against the Premier League’s bottom side who were beaten midweek by League One’s Sheffield United and spanked 6-0 by Hull City recently, then there is little chance for us this year.

After the result, Moyes said that ‘this is as bad as it gets’ but he isn’t fooling anyone because there is every chance it could still get a whole lot worse for United unless they buck up their ideas.
