Adnan Januzaj is wanted all over Europe as tug of war continues

Adnan Januzaj is wanted by Kosovo to play in their first ever international friendly against Haiti on 5 March.

Kosovo were recently granted international status by FIFA which means they can now form a national team.

The 18-year-old is still yet to pledge his international future to a country and Kosovo’s general secretary Eroll Salihu has confirmed that they are in talks with Januzaj’s family about his potential involvement in the showpiece fixture.

“We are in discussions with Adnan’s family and to have a player of his amazing talent play in our first match would be hugely symbolic,” he said.

“By playing in this match we are not thinking he is making any commitment to us. It is a friendly and would not have any effect on him being able to play for another country in the future.”

As Salihu mentions, playing in an international friendly does not change anything for Januzaj as he would still be free to choose where he wants to play and he certainly has plenty of options – England, Belgium, Albania and Kosovo are four countries he could potentially pledge allegiance to.

Januzaj has always said it is up to his father who he plays international football for but as it stands, he doesn’t look any closer to making a final decision.
