Manchester United are ‘tracking the developments’ of Barcelona’s Rafael Alcantara, brother of Thiago, according to The Mirror.
The 21-year-old signed a new contract with Barcelona in the summer and has spent time on loan at Celta Vigo this season in order to gain some first team experience. He is tipped to make a break through into Barcelona’s first team next year.
Last summer, United failed to land Cesc Fabregas and reportedly missed out on his brother Thiago so we haven’t had the best of times negotiating with them, something which would probably make negotiations that little bit more difficult for Rafinha if they came to fruition.
As for Rafinha’s future, his father Mazinho recently insisted he could be forced to go out on loan again if he doesn’t break into the team next season.
“(Rafinha) is a Barcelona player,” he said according to Sambafoot.
“But we don’t know what will happen in the future, if he will return or be loaned again.
“Rafinha is working hard to play for Barcelona in the future.”
It looks like Rafa’s father Mazinho wants nothing more than for his son to play for Barcelona but is willing to look at alternatives should that opportunity not arise.
From a quick look into rumours linking Rafa Alcantara to Manchester United, this article from The Mirror looks like the first link so it could just be a page filler but we’ll keep an eye on any developments to see if anything happens.
