Midfielder returns to Manchester United for contract decision

Manchester United loanee Jack Rudge has returned to Old Trafford because he is waiting for a contract decision and felt it was the right choice to be back at the club until his future is sorted out.

The 19-year-old joined Torquay United on a one month loan deal on transfer deadline day but Torquay boss Chris Hargreaves has confirmed Rudge’s decision to return to Carrington.

“Jack’s gone back to Manchester United,” he said.

“He’s waiting on a contract decision with them and felt it would be easier to do that while back up there.’’

Rudge hadn’t managed to feature in any of Torquay’s match-day squads after joining on loan but Hargreaves would have liked to keep him on loan.

He added: “It would have been good to keep him with us. Even though it was hard for him to break into our side, it’s good for him to experience the first-team scenario. He’s a good lad, and I wish him all the best.”
