United scout Serie A trio including Liverpool’s Reina ahead of potential moves

Manchester United’s chief scout watched Liverpool’s Pepe Reina in action this week and he is being lined up as a back-up to David de Gea, according to the reliable Gianluca Di Marzio.

United also watched defenders Mehdi Benatia and Angelo Ogbonna in action as David Moyes continues to scout plenty of players ahead of what is going to be a busy summer.

Benatia is considered by many as the perfect replacement for the outgoing Nemanja Vidic while Ogbonna is also a highly rated, powerful defender who currently plays for Juventus.

Anders Lindegaard has always reiterated that he loves Manchester United but he could leave in order to play some regular first team football which would leave United in need of a back-up goalkeeper, but there’s no way we should be looking at signing Reina.

Ben Amos deserves to be promoted to United’s back-up behind De Gea if Lindegaard decides to leave or the club wants to sell him and further down the line we’ve also got the talented Sam Johnstone coming through the ranks, so there is no need for us to bring any goalkeeper in at all.
