The agent of Atletico Madrid midfielder Arda Turan has told The Metro he has received an offer for Turan from a Premier League, leading to speculation that Manchester United are the club in question.
Turan has been an important figure for Atletico having scored three and assisted three goals in 17 La Liga appearances this season as part of Atletico’s push for the title in Spain. The 27-year-old has a reported release clause of £33 million and is considered to be in the prime of his career.
His agent Ahmet Bulut insisted that the decision now lay with both Turan and Atletico as to what the next move is.
“Arda is playing at a big club with big goals and wants to be a part of their success,” Bulut said.
“We have received an offer from an English club. We will see.
“There are two sides to every transfer, the player and the club, it’s up to both to decide.”
Equally adept on both wings, Turan has a very direct style of play which is the sort of winger United need right now but given the necessity of an out-and-out central midfielder, it would be strange for United to formally make a bid for Turan at this stage.
Jamie Sanderson at The Metro claims that Turan has been linked with strongly linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks but although there have been links with Turan dating as far back as November, United have always been more interested in his midfielder partner Koke.
Do you think Arda Turan is the midfielder that Manchester United need?
