Javier Hernandez’s problems continue after Mexican suffers knee injury

by Sam Peoples

Javier Hernandez was taken off at half-time as a precaution during Mexico’s game against Nigeria because of a muscular knee injury, according to ESPN.

The 25-year-old had a very quiet game before he was taken off but the last thing Chicharito would have wanted was to not complete the full 90 minutes for Mexico, given how little football he has had with Manchester United this season.

His withdrawal was a precaution that could have prevented a more serious injury from occurring but his lack of match sharpness, and potentially fitness, doesn’t put him in good stead for Manchester United’s game against West Brom this weekend.

When it rains it pours and Chicharito hasn’t enjoyed the best of seasons. Ahead of the World Cup this summer, he will want to re-find his touch on the pitch and United will want him to as well, so hopefully his knee trouble is only a minor issue but what Chicharito has to make sure he does is that when he gets a chance again with United’s first team, that he grabs it with both hands.
