Predicted XI – West Brom vs Manchester United – Kagawa ousts Van Persie

by Tom Newbold

David de Gea – No brainer.

Rafael – The Brazilian should be fit to start this lunchtime fixture.

Chris Smalling – The England international is probably Manchester United’s most in-form defender at present.

Nemanja Vidic – Although many United fans would now like the Serbian dropped after signing a contract to play for Inter next season, question marks over the fitness of Jonny Evans and Phil Jones means he will probably start this game.

Patrice Evra – No brainer #2.

Michael Carrick – Not used by England in midweek, Carrick will be looking to put the horror show of Greece behind him.

Marouane Fellaini – A goal for Belgium in midweek should have given the tall midfielder a boost ahead of the next few important months.

Adnan Januzaj – The teenager is another who didn’t have to feature on international duty, so will probably start on Saturday.

Juan Mata – Mata wasn’t picked for Spain’s friendly against Italy and will be raring to go in his first game for two weeks against West Brom, perhaps in his favoured number ten role.

Shinji Kagawa – Kagawa may be given some rare game time against West Brom after a good showing for Japan in midweek.

Wayne Rooney – With Robin van Persie looking out of sorts, it will be left to Wayne Rooney to lead the line at the Hawthorns.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

This game offers a chance for United fans to see the fluid front four they’ve craved, with plenty of fresh players after so few featured on international duty. With over a week until United’s next game they will be looking to put 100% in to pick up an important three points with a fairly strong-looking squad available.
