Manchester United given Gundogan, Vidal and Carvalho boosts after Real Madrid rule themselves out of midfielder market

Manchester United’s hunt for new midfielders has been given a boost after Carlo Ancelotti insisted Real Madrid would not be signing any midfielders this summer.

In recent years, Madrid have beaten United to some transfer targets such as Mesut Ozil, Karim Benzema, Luka Modric and Raphael Varane.

However, if they are not in the market for a midfielder this summer, it gives United a much better chance of signing any one of the midfielders we have consistently been linked with such as Arturo Vidal, William Carvalho and Ilkay Gundogan.

“He came to see the sports centre,” Carlo Ancelotti said¬†after he was pictured with Juventus’ director at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“In midfield we won’t take anyone. We don’t need anyone and (Sami) Khedira will return.”

Sporting Lisbon’s Carvalho insisted Real Madrid and Manchester United were two teams he could see himself joining in the summer, something that puts United in a strong position after

A move for Juventus’ Vidal, widely considered one of the best all-round midfielders in the world right now, would be a far tougher prospect considering how well Juventus have done in recent seasons but Madrid being out of the picture would help our cause.

As for Borussia Dortmund’s Gundogan, he is a player who has been strongly linked with both United and Madrid given his contract delays with Dortmund. Like the other two midfielders, Madrid’s withdrawal would aid United’s pursuit of him.

Of course, Ancelotti could be bluffing but hopefully he isn’t as United would have a lot more power without Madrid in the picture this summer.
