Cantona on Moyes, Manchester United’s legacy and returning to Old Trafford

Eric Cantona has given his verdict on David Moyes’ position as Manchester United manager and believes he is strong enough to handle the pressure.

Cantona spoke how we’ve wanted Moyes to all season. Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world and Cantona gets that, he always did. On the other hand, Moyes doesn’t seem to.

“Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world,” he said.

“They have been at the highest level for 20 years and I think they will come back very soon.

“Every big club has times like this but they have proved in the past they are able to come back.

“I think he was signed because he has a long term project but we will see in the future. At the moment it is not very good but maybe it will be great and everybody will say ‘I was wrong in the future’. I think he is strong enough to handle the pressure.”

When asked about returning to Manchester United in any capacity, Cantona admitted it wasn’t something he ever intended to do.

“No,” he said.

“I’m not that kind of old player chasing anything. I was a Manchester United and all my life, I learned Manchester United will play at the highest level so you ask me a question today and I answer in a positive way because Manchester United are a big club and they will come back.”
