Patrice Evra’s agent Federico Pastorello has said that the Frenchman’s future is undecided and it isn’t yet known whether he will be a Manchester United player next season.
The 32-year-old’s current deal expires in the summer and he is free to leave Manchester United on a Bosman transfer if he does not sign a new one-year deal with the club.
Our failed pursuits of Leighton Baines and Fabio Coentrao in the summer left us without a long-term replacement for Evra just yet but David Moyes is expected to sign a new left-back this summer.
Evra has been linked with a move back to Italy with Inter Milan and although his agent said it was too early to discuss where Evra will be next season, he said that ‘things have changed a little’ with Manchester United.
“Patrice has to decide what to do with his future,” Pastorello told Tele Radio Stereo.
“He is very close to United, but lately things have changed a little.
“Could he come back to Italy? Patrice has always highly regarded Serie A and so, if he were to leave England, it could be a possibility.
“But at the moment it is still too early to talk about next season.”
Is Pastorello referring to Manchester United’s current situation or contract talks behind the scene? Either way, it sounds a bit ominous.
With so many experienced heads leaving this summer, keeping Evra for one more season wouldn’t be a bad move by David Moyes but there is every chance the veteran Frenchman will follow in the footsteps of Nemanja Vidic and call time on his Manchester United career too.
