Manchester United fans react to Danny Welbeck performance on Twitter

Danny Welbeck was a man at the centre of attention as Manchester United took on Bayern last night as the England international caused them all sorts of problems with his direct attacking style, but he squandered the chance of the night in the first half.

Welbeck had already had one seemingly genuine goal chalked off for a high boot in the opening five minutes of the contest when he was played through by Wayne Rooney towards the end of the first half.

Staring into the whites of Manuel Neuer’s eyes, the 23-year-old cult hero elected to go for a deft chip over the on-rushing German ‘keeper when a side footed finish into the bottom corner appeared to be the easier option, and Neuer pulled off a good stop against the lobbed attempt.

Despite the miss however, Welbeck, who has scored ten goals in all competitions this season, was largely impressive as his pace and power caused Javi Martinez and Jerome Boateng plenty of problems defensively.

Here’s what United fans made of his performance.
