David Moyes remains hopeful that Wayne Rooney will be fit in time to face Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
Rooney was ruled out of our game against Newcastle United today with a bruised toe and was seen as a doubt for Manchester United’s trip to Germany but Moyes is optimistic he’ll be back in time.
“I have not heard today from the medical team back at Carrington, but we are hoping Wayne will be making progress,” he said after the full time whistle today.
“He’s a really important player for us and we will give him every opportunity to be right with his toe.”

Whether or not Rooney is 100% fit to play against Bayern Munich, he will play.
Moyes has played both Rooney and Van Persie at separate points this season when they have not been 100% fit and on an occasion like Wednesday, it is unlikely that Moyes would be brave enough to bench Rooney even if he wasn’t completely match fit.
In 2010, Rooney miraculously recovered from being on crutches to play in the second Champions League leg against Bayern Munich and it would be a big surprise if the same didn’t happen this week.
