Juan Mata has admitted he enjoys playing alongside Shinji Kagawa after both players had stand-out performances against Newcastle United.
The Spaniard stole the show with two goals and an outstanding assist but Kagawa was in brilliant form too with an assist of his own but it was their all-round play which was most pleasing.
Together with Javier Hernandez and Adnan Januzaj, the quartet played some liquid football that was some of the most aesthetically pleasing and exciting football that we have played all season.
“Its a pleasure to play with Shinji Kagawa, we connect very well,” Mata said after the match.
It’s a crying shame that Mata is cup tied for the Bayern Munich game on Wednesday and in reality, even if he was fit David Moyes would probably not start both of them as they are very attack minded players.
Regardless of that, today’s game as an individual performance was one of the most pleasing this season because it showed our attacking prowess hasn’t disappeared. It might have cooled off but the squad are capable of producing performances like that when the right personnel are on form together.
