Manchester United scouts were in the crowd for Sporting Lisbon’s 3-1 victory over Pacos de Fereirra yesterday and reports have linked us to a trio of players who were on show.
Sporting’s William Carvalho, Marcos Rojo and Carlos Mane were all in action while our very own Bebe faced up against them for Pacos and the scouts would have been very impressed as three of the four players got on the score sheet.
Our top target Carvalho was once again in fine form and got himself on the score sheet while Rojo also grabbed a goal, as did Bebe.
Portuguese football expert Jan Hagen watched the match and kindly summarised their performances for The Peoples Person.
Marcos Rojo: Solid match from Rojo. Scored an easy goal after he was left completely unmarked on a corner. Improved massively this season but the Argentine international has still a mountain to climb if he wants to succeed at top level.
Carlos Mané: A quiet game from Mané. Picked up a knock during the first half and got subbed at half time. Showed nice skills and technique at times but overall not the best match I’ve seen from the young winger.
William Carvalho: The €45 million man scored a nice goal just minutes into the match. After a nice run from the midfield, he did brilliantly to put Sporting in front. As always he dominated the midfield and kept things simple. William Carvalho being William Carvalho.
Bebé: After being converted to a striker, Bebé has done brilliantly as he has been scoring for fun lately. The Unite loanee has made it an habit of scoring Golaço’s every weekend and this match was no exception.
Bebé has now scored five goals in his last four matches and a total of eight goals in his last 12 games. No one, including strikers like Jackson Martínez and Rodrigo, has scored more goals in the Liga Sagres in 2014 than Bebé.
