SC Freiburg defender Matthias Ginter could be on his way to Borussia Dortmund, according to reports.
The talented 20-year-old defender had been on Manchester United’s radar ever since David Moyes’ visit to Germany to watch Freiburg in action and having been placed in a list of the most talented youngsters in world football recently, Ginter’s stock has continued to rise.
Previously, Ginter welcomed United’s interest in him and said he was thrilled by it.
“If this really should be so, I am thrilled and honoured,” he said.
However, reports suggest Dortmund are moving in on a deal to sign Ginter this summer.

SportBild: Dortmund set to sign Ginter for €8m. Sahin confirmed today, Ramos yesterday… open season for BVB transfer targets

Dortmund do have a good track record of buying cheap, talented youngsters and nurturing them. At a reported €8 million, Ginter would be a very cheap signing in the context of some fees that are paid nowadays and having made his national team debut for Germany already, he is considered a top prospect for the future.
If Borussia Dortmund do go on to sign Ginter, it means Moyes will have to look elsewhere to bring in a new centre back as with Nemanja Vidic leaving and Rio Ferdinand likely to follow, United will need some reinforcement in that area.
What central defender do you think Manchester United should buy this summer?
