Regular as clockwork, Manchester United’s scouts watched William Carvalho from the stands this weekend to give David Moyes a weekly update on his progress in Portugal.
However, both Real Madrid and Arsenal also had scouts in attendance which is a cause for concern.
It’s a worry because this isn’t the first time that Real Madrid have sent scouts to watch Carvalho in action as they did so back in January, alongside scouts from Barcelona.
Interest in Carvalho has steadily increased after his fantastic debut campaign in the Portuguese league and Madrid following up their interest in him suggests he left an impression the first time they saw him back in January.
More than most clubs, competing with Real Madrid for players has not been fruitful for Manchester United in recent years.
The likes of Raphael Varane, Karim Benzema, Mesut Ozil and Luka Modric were all targets but all chose to move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
In theory, Carvalho could follow in their footsteps which would leave Manchester United empty handed despite scouting him all season.
