Moyes confirms injury updates for Van Persie, Rafael, Rooney and Fellaini

Marouane Fellaini and Wayne Rooney are both fit to return for Manchester United against Everton this weekend.

The pair were doubtful for the trip to Goodison Park but David Moyes has confirmed that they are available for selection and could feature this weekend.

Meanwhile, Rafael has been ruled out of the game having not recovered his fitness in time. In his absence, Manchester United have chopped and changed at right-back and we’ll have to do the same this weekend, with Phil Jones or Chris Smalling likely to play there in Rafael’s absence.

“Felli didn’t play against Bayern but we expect him back fit because he has trained all week,” Moyes said.

“[Jonny] Evans is making progress but Rafa is the one player not available.”

Moyes also confirmed that Robin van Persie was undergoing rehabilitation in Holland on his knee. This week, the Dutchman uploaded a video of him looking sharp in the gym but he is obviously still not ready to return.

Evans played for Manchester United’s Under-21s last week but still hasn’t been able to fully recover from an injury that has kept him out of action for months.
