Danny Welbeck wants to quit Manchester United for regular first team football – report

Welbz isn’t dat guy just because Ravel Morrison said so. He is more than just a Manchester United player and holds a special place in the heart of fans that only an academy graduate can have.

So, when rumours from The Mirror suggested Daniel Levy was looking at taking him to White Hart Lane in a £20 million deal, they were heartily laughed off by United fans. Welbeck’s going nowhere. But, The Sun followed up those rumours by suggesting Welbeck wanted to leave in search of first team football.

A club insider reportedly told The Sun how Welbeck felt he was a ‘victim of the new regime’ and that he would consider leaving Old Trafford to get more regular football elsewhere.

Sorry Levy. There’s more chance of Fergie coming out of retirement than Welbeck wanting to quit Old Trafford.

“Yeah, I’m a local lad and a fan myself, not just a player in the team,” he told ManUtd.com when asked about how he feels when United suffer a setback.

“It hurts. It hurts a lot when I see that United aren’t doing as well as we know we can. I feel that extra passion inside me and I want to do everything I can for my team, my team-mates and the club I support because United means so much.”

Does that sound like a player who would want to quit United because he has had to compete for a place in the first team with Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie? Also, Welbeck has not had the best of luck with injuries this year which has hamepered his game time as well.

Welbeck is only 23. Van Persie is 30 and Rooney is 28. Welbeck is the future of United. He knows that. Already, he is an accomplished striker when you compare him to the best in the Premier League.

Moyes has definitely been too scared to drop Van Persie or Rooney this year which has hindered Welbeck’s game time but there’s not a chance he’d be willing to throw the towel in now because of that, not after working so hard to get to this position.

Moyes has made a lot of mistakes this season but there’s no chance he’d consider selling Welbeck.

If he did, there’d be a coup d’etat at Old Trafford that would engulf him.
