Manchester United are interested in signing Barcelona winger Pedro and reports suggest he isn’t currently happy in Spain, according to the Daily Star.
Rumours linking Manchester United with a move for Pedro first surfaced at the end of last year whereUnited were named as one of the clubs who were interested in a January move and after Barcelona have had a trophyless season, all is not well in the Nou Camp.
The 26-year-old has enjoyed a strong campaign with 14 goals and eight assists from 23 appearances in the league but it has been Tata Martino’s preference to use Neymar or Alexis Sanchez from the start that has reportedly irked him.
Although Francois Gallardo has been quoted as the agent who said Pedro is angry, a man who is more fantastical than Mickey Mouse, a move for Pedro makes sense from Manchester United’s perspective as he is a direct, effective winger who could add a lot to our side.
Pedro does have a release clause of €150 million but any move for him would not warrant that sort of price tag.
It all depends what Pedro wants to do. Barcelona are no longer the indomitable force they were when he signed his extension back in 2011 and Neymar’s arrival has certainly diminished his position as an important first team player in Spain.
If we were audacious enough to try and sign Cesc Fabregas, there’s nothing to suggest we wouldn’t do the same with Pedro.
