Manchester United will approach Bayern Munich’s Pep Guardiola about the vacant job – report

by Sam Peoples

It has been less than three hours since David Moyes was officially sacked as Manchester United manager but Jurgen Klopp, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and now Pep Guardiola have been linked with the vacant job.

The Telegraph have reported that Manchester United will make ‘discreet’ moves to Bayern Munich to find out if Guardiola can be tempted to move to Old Trafford.

United making ‘discreet’ moves for Guardiola would be reminiscent of the approaches we made for Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas last season – futile.

Guardiola is not going anywhere and there is not a chance he would leave a Bayern side who seem to be getting stronger every season.

The time for United to make their approach to Guardiola was when he was on his sabbatical from management altogether. Fergie did speak to him out in New York but ultimately, he moved to Bayern Munich before Fergie retired.

On paper, there is no better candidate than Guardiola for a plethora of reasons but United can’t afford to be approaching fantastical targets this summer.
