Complications in deals for Luke Shaw and Toni Kroos

David Moyes was so unaware he was going to be sacked as Manchester United manager that he was trying to advance deals for Luke Shaw and Toni Kroos before being told the news, The Mirror has reported.

Both players have been regularly linked to United all year but following the sacking of Moyes, there’s a chance that complications could happen due to the change in management.

The Mirror reported: “The now-departed manager thought he was safe and was pressing for an answer from Luke Shaw’s camp about a £27million move from Southampton to the Old Trafford giants.

“Moyes and his team had been at Southampton’s game against Aston Villa on Saturday and were working on persuading the young England left-back to be part of his summer overhaul.

“A deal for Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos was also being worked on during Black Monday and Moyes was also looking to sort out the futures of United youngsters Wilfried Zaha and Nick Powell, who are out on loan at Cardiff and Wigan respectively.”

So long as a new manager comes soon after the end of the season, these complications should only be short term.

However, if widespread reports were correct that United had already completed two deals to be announced this summer, then there may well be some complications with those due to Moyes being replaced.

In reality, Moyes being sacked should make a deal even more appealing for any player to join United because Moyes’ replacement should be a much stronger candidate, someone capable of bringing United back to the top again.
