Fergie wants Giggs as long-term manager and Neville back at United – report

by Sam Peoples

Who is going to become the next Manchester United manager? There are theories and reports galore and here’s another one to add to the pot.

Beyond The Pitch’s Pilib de Brún is reporting information relayed from Sir Alex Ferguson by Eamonn Holmes that he wants a short-term replacement at United, with the goal to have Ryan Giggs becoming manager in three years and Gary Neville to be back at the club.

Someone like Louis van Gaal coming in this summer to immediately bring the club back to the top Giggs as his assistant for three years before taking over?

It sounds like a recipe for success. Short term revival where Giggs can learn alongside a top European manager followed by long term stability by someone who knows and loves the club.

There is an air of suspicion about the validity of these reports given that Holmes insisted he would be keeping his conversation with Ferguson private.

However, the conversation should be available to listen to tomorrow which should clarify the situation.
