Sunderland defender Louis Laing has joined Manchester United on trial, according to Sky Sports.
Laing was spotted with Manchester United’s Under-21s squad last night warming up but he wasn’t able to play as he wasn’t registered with the squad.
The 21-year-old has been informed that his Sunderland deal will not be extended and United took the opportunity to offer him a trial.
A former England youth international, Laing has struggled with injuries in recent times but United’s Under-21s certainly need a defensive bolster given how little choices at centre-back we have in the squad.
Now that United secured a dramatic 3-2 win over Reading last night, we have progressed to the semi-finals of the Barclays Under-21s Premier League and Laing may get an opportunity to play there.
