Ruud Gullit jumped the gun this weekend by sending his congratulations to Louis van Gaal for getting the Manchester United job after De Telegraaf in Holland reported it had been agreed.
Of course, nothing has yet been confirmed by Manchester United but rumours are certainly building daily that make it look more a case of when, not if, Van Gaal is appointed.
However, hopefully Gullit’s premature congratulations are slightly more accurate than his previous Van Gaal claims.
Back at the end of March, Gullit said Van Gaal to Tottenham was a done deal. It wasn’t.
“I know for sure he was at Van Gaal’s house, the chairman. I think it’s a done deal, but you never know,” he said.

Gullit’s congratulations may have been premature but reports now suggest that the Dutchman wants a deal to be concluded this week so he can concentrate on the World Cup with Holland, so it might not be long before we’re all sending our congratulations to Van Gaal.
