PICTURE: Suarez unbelievably joins anti-racism campaign, despite being racist

by Sam Peoples

Despite being found guilty of racially abusing Patrice Evra back in 2011 by an independent panel, fined £40,000 and banned for eight games, Suarez has joined in the banana eating campaign started by Dani Alves last night.

After a player threw a banana at Alves during Barcelona’s game against Villareal, he picked it up and ate it in a reaction that immediately went viral.

Within hours, people all around the world were uploading photos of themselves and plenty of footballers joined the cause including Nemyar, Mario Balotelli and Sergio Aguero.

Unbelievably, Suarez has decided to put his face to the campaign. That’s precisely what the campaign needs, the face of a man found guilty of racially abusing Evra.

“The Independent Regulatory Commission acting on behalf of the FA ruled Suárez was guilty of misconduct and issued the severe penalties, pending an appeal,” The Telegraph reported at the time.

If Suarez wants to join the anti-racism campaign, how about he comes out and apologises to Evra for racially abusing him rather than taking a picture with a banana?
