Robin van Persie could make his return to match fitness this weekend after spending just under six weeks on the sidelines, according to the Daily Mail.
The Dutchman sprained his ankle after completing a hat-trick against Olympiacos and there were fears he wouldn’t be fit enough to return before the end of season.
Having Van Persie return while David Moyes was in charge would have not had much significance but you get the feeling that, like every other Manchester United player, Van Persie would be revitalised by the change of management.
Much had been said of Moyes and Van Persie’s relationship and it was clear that he wasn’t getting the best out of the Dutchman but the team is now riding on a Giggs shaped crest that could see Van Persie return to his former self.
It’s still not known whether Van Persie will remain at Old Trafford past this summer, despite insisting on multiple occasions that he wanted to stay at United for the long term, but a positive end to the season under Giggs could help him make his mind up.
