Giggs gives Rooney injury update and confirms season ending ligament damage for Evans

Wayne Rooney is unlikely to be fit in time for Manchester United’s game against Hull tomorrow.

He missed training last week due to a stomach bug and a groin strain and hasn’t been able to recover in time to play Hull.

Manchester United played unimaginative football without penetration against Sunderland this weekend and Rooney’s absence was missed in that respect. It is unknown whether he will be fit to return before the end of the season.

Ryan Giggs has also confirmed that Jonny Evans won’t feature again this season due to ligament damage.

Evans has had some real bad luck with injuries this year but he’ll have between now and July, when the pre-season tour starts, to re-gain his full fitness.

In more positive news, Giggs revealed Rafael had a chance of coming back for the last two games.

Phil Jones has filled in and done a decent job at right-back but we don’t have a natural alternative to Rafael, something we will surely need to address in the summer transfer window.
