The possibility of Juventus selling Arturo Vidal has gathered pace this week following Sir Alex Ferguson’s conversations with Antonio Conte at the Europa League final.
Reports from Italy suggested United had submitted a €32 million offer for Vidal and although he has been a central figure in Juventus’ consecutive trio of Serie A titles, there is speculation that Vidal could leave.
Now, respected Italian journalist Roberto Beccantini has had his say on the situation – if one of Vidal or Pogba has to leave, Vidal should be sacrificed.
“Pogba is 21 years old, Vidal turns 27 on May 22. He should be sacrificed as a matter of age,” he said.
“With that, there is a risk that some sheik or oligarch will come back for Pogba as early as next winter.”
Juventus might have taken Serie A by storm in the past few years but they have not been able to match that in the Champions League, which seems to be the main justification behind selling Vidal.
If he was to leave and Juventus used that money to invest heavily in the squad, it could leave the team in a stronger position. Of course, United would be all too happy to oblige if that were the case and if Vidal did leave Juventus this summer and United didn’t go in for him, Ed Woodward should get sacked on the spot.
