Manchester United are confident that Bayern Munich’s Toni Kroos is available this summer and ESPN‘s Miguel Delaney is reporting United believe ‘significant advancements’ have been made regarding his signing.
The 24-year-old secured the domestic double with Bayern last weekend to cap off a brilliant season in Germany but due to the failure in Europe, this season is not being seen as a complete success.
On a personal level, Kroos has been locked in negotiations with Bayern all season long regarding an improved contract but as no compromise has been found between the club and player, meaning the situation is still unresolved.
As such, United clearly feel that Kroos is available for the right price as if Bayern don’t let him leave this year, he can leave next summer on a free meaning they could potentially miss out on €40m.
Of course, this is not to say that Kroos is a done deal. By contrast, Bild believe that Kroos joining United is ‘highly unlikely’ so there are reports still on either side of the fence but Delaney is usually very reliable, so take from these reports what you will.
