Manchester United’s move for £30m star is now 95% complete

Manchester United are close to signing a deal with Southampton’s Luke Shaw and a deal is 95% complete, according to Stuart Mathieson from the Manchester Evening News.

After having an initial bid of £22m rejected in January, United followed up their interest with an improved bid after the last game of the season but that was swatted back as well which led us a third bid reported to be £30m.

If Mathieson is proved to be correct, then £27m was enough for Southampton to let Shaw leave and with the World Cup only just around the corner, United would be keen to confirm any deal before the tournament starts on 12 June.

Shaw certainly looks the most likely to become Louis van Gaal‘s signing as United manager as long-term target William Carvalho has ruled out leaving Sporting Lisbon in the summer while the likes of Toni Kroos and Cesc Fabregas are currently nothing more than targets.

After the fantastic Premier League campaign Shaw had this season, it is going to be interesting to see if he can continue those sorts of performances on the biggest stage at the World Cup if he gets the opportunity.
