Manchester United’s new coach calls Fabregas a ‘great player’ as interest grows

Manchester United’s new goalkeeping coach Frans Hoek has refused to confirm or deny that Manchester United are interested in Cesc Fabregas but made his opinion of the player very clear in an interview with Spanish radio station COPE.

Hoek was brought in by Louis van Gaal to replace Chris Woods as United’s new goalkeeping coach and he was being questioned by COPE about Barcelona’s new goalkeeper Marc Ter Stegen as he was previously part of their backroom staff.

He was also questioned about United’s interest in Fabregas and while Hoek said it was clear that Fabregas is a great player, he didn’t comment on whether United were pursuing him this summer..

“I can not speak as to whether Manchester United are interested in Cesc Fabregas but it is clear he is a great player,” he said.

Of course, Hoek may simply not know anything about our transfer targets given that he is our goalkeeping coach and probably hasn’t had much time to chat to Van Gaal since the announcement was made.

However, you can see the Fabregas story beginning to build pace now and whether Luis Enrique wants to have Fabregas as part of his new look Barcelona side remains to be seen.

If he doesn’t, surely Van Gaal would consider him an option? That being said, we all thought he wanted Toni Kroos but it turned out his attention was elsewhere, potentially on Fabregas.
