Brazilian agrees €30m Manchester United move and is searching for Manchester schools – report

Atletico Madrid defender Miranda has agreed a move to Manchester United worth in the region of €30m and has begun looking for schools in the Manchester area, according to Spanish newspaper AS.

The report comes almost immediately after Marca published a separate article that Barcelona had been in touch with Atletico over a move for Miranda.

If Miranda moved to United, it would certainly be a coup by Louis van Gaal as Miranda was central to Atletico’s success last season.

Atletico are going to be reluctant to sell their best players after the impressive season they had but they are powerless to stop any clubs if release clauses are paid, and Miranda’s release clause is €30m.

The 29-year-old made 45 appearances in all competitions for Atletico and after the departure of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, it would be fantastic for United to bring in a ready made top class defender like Miranda.

Althought €30m for a 29-year-old would make him the same price as Robin van Persie, this summer is not the time to dwell over transfer fees as United simply have to succeed in bringing in strong players to improve the squad.
