Manchester United’s defence of the Dale Farm Milk Cup will take place this summer in Northern Ireland.

The draw was made for the group stages and United will face CSKA Moscow, Gold Coast Academy and County Armagh in the group stages of the competition.

The young Reds have been drawn in Group D of the Premier division with Otago and Bohemians making up the six-team group, but United won’t be playing either of those teams in the group stage.

The Reds first three matches will be played between 28-30 July and points are awarded as usual. After Wedneday’s games the 24 teams in the Premier section of the Milk Cup will be ranked according to their points

Teams placed 1 to 4 will play in the semi finals of the Dale Farm Milk Cup
Teams placed 5 to 8 will play in the semi finals of the Dale Farm Milk Cup Globe
Teams placed 9 to 12  will play in the semi finals of the Dale Farm Milk Cup Vase
Teams placed 13 to 16 will play in the semi finals of the Dale Farm Milk Cup Bowl
Teams placed 17 to 20 will play in the semi finals of the Dale Farm Milk Cup Salver
Teams placed 21 to 24 will play in the semi finals of the Dale Farm Milk Cup Shield

The semi-finals matches will be played on Thursday 31 July.  Win or lose, the teams will play again on Friday 1 August as they either try to win the final of their section or play for a place.

United won the Premier Division last year when Andreas Pereira picked up the player of the tournament award. In recent years, United have done very well in the prestigious youth tournament featuring in five of the last seven finals and will hope to continue that this year.

The fixtures for the competition will be finalised by Sunday 1 June.
