Manchester United’s €60m midfield target tempted by Old Trafford move but confirms exit unlikely

Manchester United target Koke has ruled out a move away from his boyhood club Atletico Madrid this summer.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to United all season and following an outstanding campaign with Atletico, where they secured their first La Liga title since 1996, he is now considered one of Europe’s most coveted midfielders.

Koke signed a new contract with Atletico in January where his release clause was increased to €60m but it hasn’t stopped him from being linked with United.

Midfield reinforcements are a prerogative for Louis van Gaal this summer but Koke has poured cold water on any potential exit from Atletico.

Speaking at the launch of next season’s shirt, Koke said: “I am happy and this is my house and I will continue here long enough.”

ASalso report Koke had been tempted by the prospect of joining United and Barcelona in recent times but with European football next season and the heavy investment planned, Koke is inclined to move to the latter of the two clubs if he were to leave the Spanish capital which now looks very unlikely.

With a move for Toni Kroos ruled out by Van Gaal and Koke effectively ruling himself out, the list of world class midfielders who are available this summer is slowly decreasing.
