Winger set to become Louis van Gaal’s first signing for Manchester United

Yevhen Konoplyanka could become the first signing of Louis van Gaal‘s tenure as Manchester United manager, according to The Mirror.

His agent previously confirmed that United had made enquiries about him and The Mirror have reported that talks are currently ongoing for the £12m rated winger.

Dnipro have also admitted they are powerless to stop Konoplyanka joining Manchester United if his release clause is paid, so it is simply a case of meeting that clause.

Ukrainian journalist Igor Burbas told The Peoples Person that he felt Konoplyanka should move to Old Trafford and with a low release clause in place, United are in a strong position.

Buying a winger is not Van Gaal’s prerogative this summer with the defence and midfield both in need of reinforcements before a new winger is looked at but at £12m, Konoplyanka would be a very shrewd signing, especially if United were to offload Antonio Valencia or Ashley Young to offset the cost.
