Luke Shaw has already told Southampton he’ll be joining Manchester United – reports

Luke Shaw told Southampton on the last day of the season that he wanted to join Manchester United, according to the BBC.

Reports suggest Shaw told the Southampton hierarchy of his decision in a hotel after the draw against United and this story was also reported by the Independent and Daily Mail.

The 18-year-old was subject to a reported £22m bid from United back in January and a £27m bid immediately after the last game of the season and by the sounds of it, our continued and swift interest in the 18-year-old has had the desired effect.

Spanish newspaper AS suggested the Shaw stalemate meant we could be looking at Jordi Alba but numerous reports from journalists being interviewed on MUTV, including Mark Ogden from The Telegraph and David McDonnell from The Mirror, said a Shaw deal was already done behind the scenes, something that certainly supports these revelations.

Had Mauricio Pochettino not left Southampton, Shaw may well have already been unveiled as a United player but as it happens, there has been a stalemate in negotiations.

Whether that is because of an agreement on the fee isn’t known but with only two days left until the start of the World Cup, it is unlikely a deal can be completed before it starts, meaning we’ll to wait until July.
