Vermaelen’s agent denies Manchester United deal has been agreed

Thomas Vermaelen’s agent Kees Vos has told the BBC there is currently no deal is in place with Manchester United or any other club to sign Vermaelen after the World Cup.

The Telegraph reported this morning that Vermaelen had already agreed a deal in principle but that no fee would be finalised after the tournament had finished out in Brazil.

However, Vos’ comments are to the contrary and suggest that, at this stage at least, nothing has been agreed.

The 28-year-old is currently away on international duty with Belgium so it would be strange if this deal was announced at this stage but now that it is out in the open, expect Vermaelen to be quizzed on his future by journalists and for this story to gather pace over the coming few days.
